Are Supersmart products more expensive than others?
When we develop a product, neither the cost price nor the retail price enter the equation. We use the same ingredients as those validated in scientific studies, in the same forms, and at the same doses. We use delivery systems guaranteed to provide the highest bioavailability. We then apply profit margins in line with industry standards and never manipulate the retail price.
If a Supersmart product sometimes appears to be more expensive than a similar US product, it is either because of our superior quality criteria, or because some of our products are manufactured in European laboratories, which means we need to import them. And the benefits our customers gain from our loyalty program easily outweigh any potential disadvantage.
Yet, know that nutritional supplements cost less in the United States than in Europe!
Still, we can give you a few reasons that justify the price of Supersmart’s products:
- Supplements that contain proprietary ingredients, such as Zeropollution® usually cost more because their producers invested a lot in research to ensure that their compounds work better than others. You may be paying more, but you know that your supplements have been scientifically studied to prove their effectiveness and safety.
- The source of raw materials can also affect the price. Glucosamine from marine origin (Joint Support Formula®), for example, is more expensive than glucosamine extracted from cattle, which caused concern due to mad cow disease. The same is true for calcium carbonate; it is cheap, but many studies show that other forms (such as calcium orotate) are better absorbed.
- The way a supplement is made can also influence its price; tablets are cheaper than capsules, but they are more difficult to digest. Conversely, gastro-resistant and delayed-release capsules used for our probiotics are more expensive, as they are cutting-edge, but guarantee maximum effectiveness.
